Web Assignment Database is a service that primarily allows teachers and teacher educators to store and retrieve assignments, which can be used by their pupils respectively student - teachers. WAD's goals are to develop course materials, which can be applied by teacher trainers to prepare student-teachers (or in-service teachers) regarding the use of WWW in education; to store course materials on WWW in a handy and useful format; to allow all posted materials by teachers and pupils to be timely reviewed by specialists in the respective subject area(s).

The WAD allows teachers to develop and retrieve web-based assignments for teaching and learning in several subject areas. Teachers and students who are registered as users have access to a whole range of functionalities, such as: adapting assignments, allocating assignments to students, storage of student products, feedback on assignments developed by colleagues and rating of student products. Besides, the visitors have to be encouraged to express their opinion about the quality and usefulness of the materials.

The WAD Web site is composed of two separate sections: the public-facing section and the password-protected section. The public-facing section of the site disseminates general WAD information about assignments and student products. It provides downloadable data.
The password-protected sections of the site provide a Web-enabled data entry system for authorized grantees to enter new data online for entering data about assignments, students products, users and messages.
